What we’re doing:

This is the site where you can send your donations to the Wito Scholarship fund via PayPal. A team of teachers, parents and students, both past and present, have begun the task of trying to accumulate enough resources to establish a scholarship fund in Wito’s name. The purpose of this fund will be to award a Beaver Area High School senior a scholarship at the end of each year. It’s a daunting task, and we need $5,000 to get off the ground. But with your help, even with a small donation, we’ll reach this goal. A Wito Scholarship Fund not only preserves the memory of a great teacher and friend, but also the qualities and characteristics he so greatly exemplified.

The specifics:

For those of you unfamiliar with it, PayPal is an online way of sending money to a specific bank account. My brother, Kevin Bechdel, a teacher at Dutch Ridge Elementary School, is a trustee of the Beaver Area Education Foundation, and he’s set up this PayPal account so that the money you send, via your credit card online, will be transferred directly to the Wito Scholarship Fund.

You don’t need a PayPal account to send money through their service–just a credit card.

For more information about PayPal, click here. All the funds we raise in this account will be subject to a 2.9% PayPal fee and a $.30 fee per donation. In other words, for a $5 donation, .$45 would be taken out and sent to PayPal. For a $50 donation, $1.75 would be taken out and sent to PayPal. This fee is unfortunate, but it is a convenience charge for using PayPal’s services.

Other donation options:

For those of you not interested in using your credit card to send a donation, you can send a check, money order or cash, made out to “Beaver Area Education Foundation” with “Witowich Memorial” in the memo line to the following address:
