Jack’s First Thanksgiving

We had a great time celebrating Jack’s first Thanksgiving with family and friends. We missed seeing Aunt Jen, Eli and Micah and also Uncle Bob, Aunt Lindsey and all the girls. Jack had a great time and really enjoyed eating all the great food!

11 Months!

Our little man is 11 months old! The last few months have been some of the most fun so far. Jack now has two bottom teeth and one just starting to come though on the top. He started to take some steps about two weeks ago and he is now walking like a little champ. He can go the whole way across the room and into the kitchen without falling down.

A week ago Jack started wearing his cranial remolding orthosis, his helmet. Jack has had a flat spot on the back right side of his head pretty much since he was born. He had been stuck in the birth canal for an extended period of time and came out extremely cone headed. Because of that, his head never really went back to the right shape. Scott and I have tried just about everything to try to encourage his head to go back to the correct shape and the helmet is our last option. We have done a ton of research and are really optimistic that it will help with Jack’s head shape. He will have to wear it for at least 3 months but possibly up to 6. We think that he looks adorable!

First Steps

Jack took his first “official” steps today! He has been walking with the aide of a truck but these were his first unaided steps. Over the past couple weeks he would sit down as soon as he realized Jackie or I had let go of him while he was standing. Today, it didn’t bother him at all and off he went. We are in trouble…

Happy Halloween!

We have had a great time celebrating Jack’s first Halloween! We have spent a lot of time with our families trick-or-treating and just hanging out. Jack had his very own pumpkin this year with his name carved into it. He really enjoyed watching mommy and daddy carve it. Pappap Jack also carved a pumpkin for Jack. It was a baby’s first pumpkin for both Jack and Micah. The pumpkin was adorable and must have taken Pappap a long time to carve!

On Halloween we went to New Wilmington to spend the day trick-or-treating with the Hanssen’s, the Mutchler’s and the Lewis’. We all had a great time and enjoyed the time together. Jack, Maggie and Sammy were all dressed as characters from the Wizard of Oz. Jack was the Cowardly Lion, Maggie was Dorothy and Sammy was the Scarecrow. They were so adorable!! Daniel also dressed up as an Army guy. Grandma Carol made some wonderful soup and there were lots of wonderful cookies and snacks. It was a great day.
