Pictures from Eli’s first t-ball game.
There’s a little bit of down time in baseball…

Made it to base.

Playing the field.

Each kid gets 7 pitches from the coach and then they bring out the T. His first time up he hit off of the coaches pitch but every time after that he needed the T.

Waving to his fans.

I want to start off by saying that The March for Babies was a tremendous success yesterday!! It was unbelievable to see all of you there, and all wearing your “Mob Blues.” Jen and I cannot put into words our humble gratitude and sincere thanks, but I’m going to try as best I can by telling a little of the behind the scenes from the walk at Brady’s Run yesterday…
Jen and I have kept in contact with a couple of Micah’s NICU doctors, via developmental checks early on, and events through the March of Dimes more recently. At a recent event, because of the support of all of you, Micah’s Mob was honored at a dinner, and the doctors were there. We talked and they said that they wanted to come and walk this year. At first Jen and I were really excited to have them come, but then I started to think about the nature of their job (rotating 24 hour shifts, on duty for weeks at a time, needing to be close to their tiny patients…etc.) and thought that it was a long shot. As the walk approached Jen was calling and leaving messages and emailing without getting any response. She was getting upset about their lack of communication, but we kept saying “they are busy”. On our trip down to the walk, Jen and I talked about being disappointed that they wouldn’t be there, but that it was ok. As we walked up to the pavilion, we said “hi” to an old friend of ours that was running the registration table and she glanced over her shoulder and there was the Dr. Alan Lantzy and Dr. Giovanni Laneri! The same doctors that informed us and explained to us all the details of Micah’s brain injury were there to celebrate with us. I think having them at the walk was something that Jen and I needed. It was the finishing chapter to a volume in our lives. We had been through so many emotionally heavy times with these extraordinary gentlemen, that it was a step to balance the emotion by having them with us yesterday on such a great occasion.

All of that to say, without your support, both financial and emotional, this moment with Micah’s NICU doctors would not have happened. Walking on Sunday at Brady’s Run Park with so many blue shirts that Eli was heard saying, “I can’t believe I know this many people,” would not have happened. Lastly, raising over $21,000 to help babies that are born too soon and funding research to stop premature birth would not have happened.
Jen, Eli, Micah, and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
